The client / the project

We are seeking a Product Owner to join our partner's Data & Analytics team in Budapest, supporting global Trading & Risk Management initiatives. The successful candidate will drive the delivery of high-impact data products, ensure business requirements are effectively translated into technical specifications, and act as the key liaison between stakeholders, data architects, and development teams. This role requires strong analytical capabilities, excellent communication skills, and experience working in agile environments.

Responsibilities

  • Own and prioritize the product backlog, ensuring alignment with business goals and architectural standards.
  • Translate business needs into clear, actionable user stories and acceptance criteria.
  • Collaborate closely with the CDO Data Architect, developers, and testers throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Participate in PI Planning, sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives as part of the agile cadence.
  • Guide analysis of internal and external datasets to support data-driven decision-making.
  • Oversee profiling activities such as column-level and cross-table analysis, data rule validation, and quality assessment.
  • Direct the discovery of key variables, trends, outliers, and relationships to improve product effectiveness.
  • Develop comprehensive product documentation, including feature descriptions, logic flow, data models, and security considerations.
  • Prepare technical specifications and testable designs based on input from architects and business leads.
  • Maintain traceability from business capability to technical execution, ensuring documentation is accurate, current, and complete.
  • Collaborate with QA and data teams to validate features and data models prior to deployment.
  • Define and review test strategies, including unit and integration tests, and ensure alignment with business needs.
  • Monitor data integrity, constraints, and model consistency throughout the lifecycle.
  • Act as the primary point of contact between business, technical, and data teams.
  • Facilitate workshops, backlog grooming sessions, and product demos.
  • Ensure stakeholder alignment and continuously communicate product status, goals, and delivery expectations.

Technologies / Skills

  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a Product Owner, Business Analyst, or similar role in a complex IT or data-driven environment.
  • Strong understanding of data modeling, metadata, and analytics best practices.
  • Experience working with BI tools (Excel, Tableau, Alteryx, PowerPoint) and data validation techniques.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies (Scrum, SAFe), and experience working in agile teams.

Advantages

  • Knowledge of trading, risk, or financial systems is an advantage.
  • Certifications such as Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) or SAFe Product Owner/Product Manager (POPM) are a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field.
